The Mystery behind the Disappearance of a whole Village

We'll travel in Canada and specifically to Anjikuni  (also spelled Angikuni) Lake in the 1930s. Joe Labelle was a fur trapper who was passing from the area many times. As always, he looked for a respite from cold at an Inuit Village he always visited when he was around. Approaching to the village by the Anjinuki lake there was an odd silence. He shout in order to find someone, but all he got back was pure silence. Joe wasn't visiting for the first time, but he actually had friends there.

He started looking aroung the rough huts and tents only to discover  unfinished shirts that still had needles in them and food hanging over fire pits. He concluded that the villagers had left suddenly. Despite being abandoned, the huts and tents were all in good condition and  there was no sign of  damage, violence or fight. A step further the guns the villagers had for protection were still in their tents. Continuing his research of what happened he tried to find traces of the villagers and their dogs. A direction of where they might went. Joe never found anything. Not a single trace that would indicate that the villagers moved to one direction. He thought the lake, but again he found all the boats abandoned in the little port of the Lake.

At that time Joe  informed the mounties(known also as RCMP - Royal Canadian Mounted Police) about this weird situation.

Arriving at the village, a new search started on what happened there. The new search brought more disturbing results. Mounties discovered that all graves of the village has been dug up and the dead bodies were also missing. They knew that it was a taboo in Inuit culture to dig up their dead. Another disturbing finding were the dogs. The dogs of the villagers have been buried under the snow and it was proved later that they have died from starvation. The Mounties concluded that the villagers were missing for about 8 weeks before the case was discovered, although they could not find why they would leave without taking their guns, food and animals. They could not find the direction that the villagers might have followed or why the the dead  were removed from their graves.

Until today the case remains unsolved....
