Disappeared, while writing a novel about a man who disappeared - Unsolved Mystery

Silver Plume, a tiny village of Colorado is the place of this mysterious case. Back in 1988, Keith Reinhard closed his antique store to go hiking. He was never seen again.

Keith had just opened his little antique shop on Silver Plume. It was a new beginning for him. If the store was a success, he and his family, could permanently move to the little village. Keith had a good friend in Silver Plume. As an extra, the village was providing the solitude and time to write a novel. The inspiration was not hard for him to find after all.

The place Keith rent , to open his antique store, used to be  a bookstore. A bookstore owned by a man named Tom Young just nine months earlier. On September 7, 1987 Tom Young left his bookstore with his dog,Gus. Tom had told some friends, that he will be going on a trip to Europe. Weeks passed, but Tom was not returning. Locals declared Tom Young as missing three weeks after his departure.

Keith was fascinated by the weird disappearance of Young, right from the place he was standing. He started writing a novel about him, while making his own research. Asking everyone that knew Tom or heard something. Probably looking inside his store for forgotten clues of what might have happened to the former owner and his dog.

On July 31, 1988 Tom's body was found  in the mountains by hunters. Nearby, the dog was lying dead as well. Both have been killed by a shot in the head. The police, after investigation, learned that Tom had bought a gun 4 days before he was last seen. They closed his case as a suicide without further investigation.

One week later Keith would be going on hiking. He was last seen at 4:30p.m.  A late time for hiking as many noted later. He was never seen again.

Keith's family believe that both men were murdered after finding out something they shouldn't about the house they rent for their businesses. Some friends of Keith believed that he might have found what really happened to Tom and that's why he got murdered. Others believe that Keith planned his own disappearance.  Although a huge search launched on the mountains, police said that it would be really difficult to locate him if something had happened to him. As this wasn't already a tragedy, a rescue plane was also crashed during the search, killing one of the volunteers. The search was called off without finding a clue a week later.

Keith is considered missing until today....
