The Story of Larry is one more of these interesting and unsolved mystery cases. We are going to New Mexico , Albuquerque. On 7 August 1973 , radio operators in California got worried after they heard the transmissions of a young child calling for help. While the first transmissions were reported in California the pleas for help coming from Larry were received by some stations even in Canada.
Child's signal was fading in and out either due to atmospheric conditions or due to low battery of his transmitter. According to the kid , his name was Larry. The things that they were able to hear is that he got trapped with his dad, in his pick up truck after an accident. His father might have been dead or injured. Larry said that he had no idea where he was and and that he had no water or food with him.
The operators called the police and told them about the case of Larry. On the days that followed a huge search started. With the help of planes and volunteers the authorities tried to find the kid in the area(somewhere in the mountains) they thought the signal was coming from. The case started taking a lot of attention.TV and Newspapers started talking about the case of Larry.
In the next days,Larry's Signal was getting weaker until it was completely disappeared on August 12,1973. It was also the day the authorities stopped the search because they thought that the whole thing was a joke. They based this theory to the fact that they could not locate the truck and that there wasn't any missing kid named Larry reported during these 5 days.State police chief Magil Vigil stated :"We have not come up with any information that is definite enough to say that there actually is someone out there and where this person might be".
On the other hand, so many years have passed since the broadcasts and no one ever claimed responsibility for the joke. If this was a joke, after all. The case is considered unsolved, with the fear that a young child might have died trapped, alone and helpless somewhere.
